Pocky came first!
Pocky was created in Japan by the company Ezaki Glico in 1966, where it was initially sold as a chocolate-coated snack stick. Pepero, which has a very similar concept, was created in South Korea by Lotte Confectionery in 1983. Both snacks are popular and often compared, especially given their visual and taste similarities, but Pocky holds the title of the original chocolate-dipped biscuit stick.
Each brand has since expanded into unique flavors and variations, with Pocky known for its popularity in Japan and internationally, and Pepero especially beloved in South Korea, where it even inspired Pepero Day on November 11.
