Pepero Day (빼빼로 데이) is celebrated annually on November 11 in South Korea. The date (11.11) resembles four Pepero sticks standing in a row, which is often cited as the reason for the choice of this day. However, some believe that this explanation might be more of a marketing myth created by the snack’s manufacturer to boost sales, adding an element of mystery to the holiday’s origin.
Each year, people exchange Pepero sticks with friends, family, and romantic partners in a gesture of appreciation, much like Valentine’s Day. The holiday is especially popular among students and young people, with many giving elaborately decorated Pepero packs or even making homemade versions to share.
