The Korean word 그리고 (geu-ri-go) can be translated as “and” or “and then” in English, and its meaning depends on the context in which it’s used.
그리고 is used to connect words, phrases, clauses and sentences. It can link both nouns and actions or ideas, depending on what you’re trying to say.
Connecting Nouns with 그리고
책, 연필, 그리고 공책 (chaek, yeonpil, geurigo gongchaek) = “book, pencil, and notebook”
Connecting Sentences with 그리고
Sentence 1: 영화를 봤어요. (yeonghwareul bwasseoyo) = “I watched a movie.”
Sentence 2: 음악을 들었어요. (eumageul deuleosseoyo) = “I listened to music.”
영화를 봤어요. 그리고 음악을 들었어요. = “I watched a movie, and then I listened to music.”
