In Korean, when you combine a Sino-Korean number with the word for month, which is 월 (wol), it forms the name of the month. All 12 months in Korean are based on the Sino-Korean numbering system.
The 12 months in Korean are:
- 일월 (ilwol) – January
- 이월 (iwol) – February
- 삼월 (samwol) – March
- 사월 (sawol) – April
- 오월 (owol) – May
- 유월 (yuwol) – June
- 칠월 (chilwol) – July
- 팔월 (palwol) – August
- 구월 (guwol) – September
- 시월 (siwol) – October
- 십일월 (sibilwol) – November
- 십이월 (sibiwol) – December

*Note: In Korean, the names for June and October have slight modifications compared to the other months. Here are the exceptions:
- June (6월)
Instead of being written as 육월 (yuk-wol), it is written and pronounced as 유월 (yu-wol). The consonant “k” (in “yuk”) is dropped to make pronunciation smoother.
- October (10월)
Instead of being written as 십월 (sip-wol), it is written and pronounced as 시월 (si-wol). The consonant “p” (in “sip”) is dropped for ease of pronunciation.
