가요 (ga-yo) is the polite present tense form of the verb “가다” (to go). It can mean “I go,” “you go,” “he/she goes,” or “they go” depending on the context, since Korean often omits the subject if it’s clear from the situation.
가다 Conjugation in Polite Present Tense
Verb → 가다 (gada)
Verb Stem → 가 (ga)
Last Vowel → ㅏ (a)
Verb Ending Used → 아요 (a-yo)
Polite Present Tense → 가 + 아요 = 가아요 (ga-a-yo) which changes to 가요 (ga-yo) for easier pronunciation.

아요: Used if the last vowel in the verb stem is ㅏ or ㅗ.
어요: Used if the last vowel in the verb stem is anything other than ㅏ or ㅗ.
