In Korean, the particles 에 (e) and 에서 (e-seo) are both used to indicate locations, but they serve different purposes depending on the context of the sentence.
The Particle 에 (in, on, at, to)
The particle 에 (e) is used in Korean to indicate the location of where someone or something exists.
Example: 집에 있어요. = I’m at home.
에 (e) is also used to indicate where someone or something is going.
Example: 학교에 가요. = I’m going to school.
The Particle 에서 (in, on, at, from)
The Particle 에서 (e-seo) is used to indicate the location of an action.
Example: 집에서 먹어요. = I eat at home.
에서 (e-seo) is also used to indicate where someone or something is from.
Example: 서울에서 왔어요. = I came from Seoul.
Key Difference:
에 = At (existence) or To (destination).
에서 = At (action) or From (origin).
