To count age in Korean, you use the counter 살 (sal). It’s used to express someone’s age in years, and it comes right after the number.
Structure: number + counter
Here’s how you would use 살:
- 한 살 (han sal) = one year old
- 두 살 (du sal) = two years old
- 세 살 (se sal) = three years old
When you’re asking or expressing someone’s age, you can use 살 like this:
- 몇 살이에요? = How old are you?
- 저는 스물한 살이에요. = I am 21 years old.
