In Korean, pointing out things around you is easy with three little words: 이, 그, and 저 (this, that, that). These demonstrative adjectives (words used to point to things) change based on where the object is.
Here’s how they work:
- 이 [i]: Use 이 when something is close to you. Think of it as “this.”
Example: 이 책 (this book).
- 그 [geu]: Use this for something near the person you’re talking to or for something you’ve both mentioned before.
Example: 그 책 (that book).
- 저 [jeo]: Use 저 for things that are far from both you and the other person. It’s like “that (over there).”
Example: 저 책 (that book over there).
These little words are super handy for everyday conversation. With them, you can quickly point out objects based on where they are.
