Ever taken a bite of something so good you had to let everyone know?
In Korean, when something tastes amazing, you say 맛있어요 (ma-si-sseo-yo), which means “It’s tasty” or “It’s delicious.”
Breaking It Down:
- 맛 (mat) = taste
- 있어요 (isseoyo) = there is / exists
So, you’re literally saying, “There is taste” or “Taste exists,” meaning the food has flavor — and a good one!
Usage Examples:
이거 맛있어요.
This is delicious.
이 음식 맛있어요.
This food is tasty.
빵이 맛있어요.
The bread is delicious.
The opposite phrase for 맛있어요 is 맛없어요 (ma-deop-seo-yo), which means “It’s not tasty,” “It’s not delicious,” or “It tastes awful.”
