분청사기 (Buncheong Sagi) is a traditional Korean pottery, developed during the early Joseon Dynasty. Buncheong ware is known for its distinctive grayish blue-green color and often features decorative techniques such as inlaying, stamping, incising, and painting with white slip (liquid clay).
The term 분청사기 (Buncheong Sagi) is a shortened version of ‘분장회청사기’ (Bunjang Hoecheong Sagi), which translates to “gray-green ceramics decorated with powder.” It was coined in the 1930s by Go Yuseop, South Korea’s first art historian.
