To count pieces or slices of something in Korean, you use the counter 조각 (jogak). This counter is used for counting individual pieces or portions of items that have been cut or divided, such as cake slices, pieces of fruit, or broken objects.
How to use 조각:
- 한 조각 (han jogak) = one piece/slice
- 두 조각 (du jogak) = two pieces/slices
- 세 조각 (se jogak) = three pieces/slices
Example sentences:
Structure: noun + number + counter
- 케이크 한 조각 주세요. = Please give me one slice of cake.
- 사과 두 조각 먹었어요. = I ate two pieces of apple.
조각 is commonly used for counting parts of something that has been divided or cut, so it pairs well with items like pizza, cake, pie, fruit, or any other food or object that is sliced or broken into parts.
