그래서 (geu-rae-seo) means “therefore” or “so” in Korean. It is used to connect two sentences to explain that one action or situation is the result of the other, similar to how “therefore” or “so” is used in English.
For example, “비가 왔어요. 그래서 집에 있었어요.” means “It rained. So, I stayed home.” Here, 그래서 connects the two sentences to show that staying home was a result of the rain.
“It rained, so I stayed at home.”
비가 왔어요 (bi-ga wa-sseo-yo) = “It rained” or “rain came.”
그래서 (geu-rae-seo) = “so” or “therefore.”
집에 있었어요 (jip-e i-sseo-sseo-yo) = “I stayed at home” (literally, “was at home”).
By using 그래서, you signal that the second sentence is a result or consequence of the first, helping to clarify the logic or reasoning behind the ideas.
