Pepero Day (빼빼로 데이) is a popular celebration in South Korea, observed on November 11th each year. The day revolves around the exchange of Pepero, a type of snack made of thin biscuit sticks coated in chocolate or other sweet toppings. The shape of the Pepero sticks is often compared to the number “11,” which is why the date 11/11 was chosen for the celebration.
On Pepero Day, people, especially students and couples, give Pepero to one another as a gesture of affection, friendship, or love. It’s similar to Valentine’s Day in many ways, but with a focus on the snack itself.
